Frequently asked questions

How does your charity foundation in Ottawa support local individuals and communities, and what opportunities are available for people who would like to volunteer, donate, or get involved in your programmes?+

Our foundation supports individuals and families in Ottawa by connecting them with community-focused programmes, resources, and opportunities designed to improve wellbeing and strengthen local communities. People can contribute by volunteering their time and skills, supporting our programmes through donations, participating in community initiatives, or partnering with us to expand our impact. This approach reflects the broader role of Ottawa’s charitable sector, where volunteers and community organizations work together to address local needs and create stronger, more inclusive communities.

Do I need experience to volunteer?+

Not at all. Most of our volunteers start with no formal experience — we care most about reliability and a welcoming attitude. Training is provided for every role.

How much time do I need to commit?+

As little as a few hours a month. Let us know your availability on the form and we'll match you with a role that fits your schedule.

Is there an age requirement?+

Volunteers must be 16 or older for most roles. Younger volunteers are welcome at family-friendly events when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What happens after I submit my application?+

Our volunteer coordinator reviews every application and reaches out within 3–5 business days to schedule a short conversation and orientation.

What cultural programs does The Angels Foundation run?+

We run four annual programs: weekly Anti-Racism & Multiculturalism Workshops every Saturday from March 31 to the end of June, a Summer Multiculturalism Festival with beach cultural parties, a Canada Day Afro-Cultural Event at the Ottawa Convention Centre, and an annual Black History Month event. All are open to the community, and volunteers are always welcome to help plan and run them.
