The Angels Foundation is dedicated to supporting and empowering refugees and immigrants as they navigate the journey of settling into their new communities. We focus on language training, education, and employment opportunities — while ensuring access to culturally familiar meals and activities that help ease the transition and foster a sense of belonging.

Five ways we support newcomers
A list of the things we do to help newcomers adjust to their new homes and find amazing opportunities in Canada.
Language Training
We offer practical language training that helps newcomers improve their English communication skills, integrate into Canadian society, access essential services, and succeed in education and the workplace.
Career Readiness
Our career readiness programs provide job search assistance, résumé writing, interview preparation, workplace skills, career coaching, and employment guidance to help participants secure sustainable employment.
Translation Services
We provide reliable translation and interpretation services to ensure individuals and families can confidently access healthcare, education, legal, and community services.
Poverty Relief
We assist individuals and families experiencing financial hardship by providing food support, essential household items, community resource referrals, and emergency assistance that promotes dignity and well-being.
Cultural Activities
From weekly Anti-Racism & Multiculturalism Workshops each spring to our Summer Multiculturalism Festival, Canada Day Afro-Cultural Event, and Black History Month celebration, we create welcoming spaces where newcomers and long-time residents share traditions, celebrate diversity, and build lasting relationships that reduce isolation and strengthen the community.
Where newcomers find home
At The Angels Foundation, we believe every immigrant deserves a soft landing and a strong start. Every day, we uplift and guide newcomers on their journey to settlement — offering hands-on support, from accessing free community healthcare and housing services to accompanying them to important appointments.
Twice a month, on the 2nd Sunday and last Saturday, newcomers come together for cultural gatherings — joyful celebrations of food, music, and traditions from around the world. Here, stories are shared, friendships bloom, and roots begin to grow.

What cultural programs does The Angels Foundation run?+
We run four annual programs: weekly Anti-Racism & Multiculturalism Workshops every Saturday from March 31 to the end of June, a Summer Multiculturalism Festival with beach cultural parties, a Canada Day Afro-Cultural Event at the Ottawa Convention Centre, and an annual Black History Month event. All are open to the community, and volunteers are always welcome to help plan and run them.

Celebrations we look forward to every year
Weekly Anti-Racism & Multiculturalism Workshops
Every Saturday from March 31 to the end of June, community members gather to learn about different cultures and traditions, discuss racism and inclusion, and build awareness of the importance of multiculturalism in Canada.
Summer Multiculturalism Festival & Beach Cultural Parties
A summer of festivals and beach cultural parties where community members share traditional food, music, dance, cultural clothing, and stories — creating friendships between newcomers and long-term residents.
Canada Day Afro-Cultural Event
Held annually at the Convention Centre in downtown Ottawa, this celebration of Canadian diversity showcases African food, traditional dance, cultural music, masquerade displays, and the Ogene dance — inviting the wider community to experience African culture.
Black History Month Event
An indoor cultural and educational event celebrating Black history, heritage, achievements, and contributions, combining historical presentations, storytelling, traditional food, music, and dance for community members of every generation.
